Orbia Fluor and Energy Materials, an Orbia business, is looking for a Logistics Lead - EMEAI
to be based primarily at Thornton Science Park, Cheshire, with regular presence required at our Runcorn, Cheshire site.
Occasional travel across UK/EU is expected as part of the role.
Main Purpose
To lead and manage the EMEAI Logistics function, ensuring the safe, compliant, efficient, and cost-effective transportation and distribution of pressurised gases and related products across global markets. The role is responsible for overseeing all logistics operations associated with Class 2.1 and Class 2.2 dangerous goods in both bulk and packaged formats, including isotanks, cylinders, drums, and other transport assets.
The Logistics Lead will provide strategic direction and operational leadership across transport planning, freight forwarding, stock control, asset utilisation, compliance, and supplier performance management. The position plays a critical role in maintaining uninterrupted supply to global customers through road, sea, and air freight networks while ensuring adherence to all applicable international dangerous goods regulations and internal compliance standards.
The role also ensures strong collaboration between Customer Service, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Transport Engineering, Customs, Commercial, and external logistics providers to deliver exceptional customer service, operational excellence, and continuous improvement across the regional supply chain network.
Main Responsibilities
· Lead and oversee all logistics and transport activities across the EMEAI region and beyond, ensuring the safe, compliant, and efficient movement of hazardous and non-hazardous materials via road, sea, and air freight in alignment with customer requirements and regulatory obligations.
· Manage relationships with freight forwarders, carriers, and logistics service providers globally, including performance management, service level agreements, escalation management, continuous improvement initiatives, and commercial rate negotiations.
· Ensure full compliance with all applicable dangerous goods regulations and transportation legislation including ADR, IMDG, IATA, CDG, customs requirements, and internal compliance frameworks relating to Class 2.1 and Class 2.2 pressurised gases.
· Own the forecasting, planning, and utilisation of logistics assets including isotanks, cylinders, drums, and associated transport equipment. Proactively monitor future demand and capacity requirements to ensure continuity of supply and minimise operational risk.
· Lead the stock control function to ensure accurate inventory visibility, reconciliation, reporting, and audit compliance across regional warehouses, third-party storage locations, and transport assets.
· Work closely with S&OP, Manufacturing Plants, Commercial Teams, and Supply Chain stakeholders to support sourcing decisions, production planning, load scheduling, and regional/global material availability.
· Develop and maintain logistics KPIs and reporting mechanisms focused on safety, cost, service, utilisation, and operational efficiency. Identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce costs, and enhance customer satisfaction.
· Support budgeting, forecasting, transport accruals, freight cost analysis, and logistics spend management to ensure accurate financial reporting and cost optimisation across the function.
· Support strategic business projects, new product introductions, and supply chain initiatives by ensuring logistics requirements, risks, compliance considerations, and operational capabilities are fully assessed and implemented successfully.
· Lead, coach, and develop the Logistics and Stock Control teams, fostering a high-performance culture focused on accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and customer excellence.
Qualifications
· Degree, Higher National Diploma (HND), or equivalent qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related discipline is preferred.
· DGSA Qualification would be desirable.
Knowledge/ Experience Required
· 5+ years of experience in logistics, transport management, supply chain, or service delivery leadership roles within an international and operationally complex environment.
· Demonstrated experience managing the transportation of dangerous goods, specifically Class 2.1 and Class 2.2 pressurised gases in both bulk and packaged formats.
· Strong understanding of international freight operations including road, sea, and air transportation, freight forwarding, customs compliance, and Incoterms.
· Working knowledge of ADR, IMDG, IATA, CDG, and dangerous goods compliance requirements is essential.
· Experience managing transport assets such as isotanks, cylinders, drums, and associated testing or maintenance programs is highly advantageous.
· Proven ability to manage third-party logistics providers, freight forwarders, supplier contracts, and service level agreements.
· Prior experience leading and developing teams within logistics, supply chain, or operational environments.
· Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
· Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Word. Experience using ERP systems such as SAP is advantageous.
· Strong communication and influencing skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across all organisational levels and global regions.
· Fluency in English is essential; additional European language capability is beneficial.
· Ability to travel regionally and internationally as required.
